On August 19th, the 2025 Southern China Book Fair concluded successfully at the main venue in Area B of the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. This year's Book Fair reached new highs in scale, attendance, and social impact. Covering about 40,000 square meters, the main venue featured four themed exhibition halls, "Read the World," "Read the Future," "Read the Life," and "Read Guangzhou."

At the same time, 467 sub-venues were set up across Guangdong's 21 prefecture-level cities, as well as in Macao and Kashi, Xinjiang, with a total area of over 1 million square meters. The Fair achieved coordinated hosting among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), linking the province, cities, counties (districts), towns, and villages. Combined with local Reading Month activities, it created a large-scale reading extravaganza lasting for a month.
More than 1,500 publishing institutions from China and abroad brought nearly 500,000 publications and cultural and creative products. A total of 2,335 cultural activities were held at the main and sub-venues, attracting over 55 million participants online and offline. During the event, attendance at the main and sub-venues across the province reached 2.75 million.

This year's Fair marked a milestone in its internationalization. Publishing and cultural institutions from 23 countries and regions were attracted. As the Guest Country of Honor, Vietnam presented a series of activities including the themed exhibition "Comrade Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou" to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. Leading international publishers such as Penguin Random House, Macmillan, and Bloomsbury made their debut at the Fair, showcasing 20,000 original books, including more than 2,000 new releases for 2025.

The Book Fair has been deeply integrated into the development of the GBA. Eleven cities across Guangdong jointly launched the "Bay Area Co-reading" event, while Guangzhou Metro's "Reading-themed Train" served an average of 30,000 readers daily. With the theme of "Reading in the GBA, Sharing the Same Cultural Roots," the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Pavilion presented more than 5,000 special publications and IP derivatives, facilitating 28 copyright cooperation projects among the three regions.
